Dear Residents,
Congratulations to students and teachers on another successful year of school! To all the graduates of 2025, I wish you well on this next exciting chapter of your life and have an enjoyable summer!
Meeting Changes
Some of the scheduled meetings for next month have changed. Please take note of the following scheduling changes:
- Regular Village Board Meeting has been rescheduled to Wednesday, June 11th (instead of Thursday, June 12th).
- Our special Board meeting on June 3rd has been cancelled. All matters that were to be addressed at that meeting will instead be taken up at the next regular Village Board meeting on Wednesday, June 11th.
Appointment Architectural Control Commission
Good things come to those who wait.
After a lengthy search, I am pleased to announce we have filled the vacancy on the Architectural Control Commission.
Resident Michael Niedzinski was appointed to the vacant spot on the Architectural Control Commission, and I had the privilege of administering the oath of office to him, last week. Thank you, Michael, for your willingness to serve our community!

South Barrington Conservancy
If you are looking to spend time outdoors this summer, do not forget about the South Barrington Conservancy.
The Conservancy is a beautiful natural area open to the public, located just east of Community Park off Bartlett Road in South Barrington. Spanning 35 acres, it features a diverse collection of native plants, flowers, and trees across lightly wooded prairie and wetland habitats and is a peaceful retreat for nature enthusiasts, walkers, and anyone looking to enjoy the outdoors. It’s an ideal spot for birdwatching, nature walks, educational outings, and photography.
The Village of South Barrington maintains the conservancy. If you wish to reserve The Conservancy for a private party of 15 or more people, you are required to obtain a permit from the Village of South Barrington. Please see our Conservancy webpage here.
Holi Festival of COLORS
One of the most important Hindu celebrations is Holi. “Holi is the festival of colors, arrival of spring and a celebration of good over evil. Here are some pictures of Trustee Dr. H. Patel celebrating Holi with friends.

Village Sealant Use Regulations
If you are planning to work on your driveway this summer, remember the Village Code prohibits coal tar and other high-PAH (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon) sealants for use by commercial sealers within the Village.
If you plan to have work done on your driveway, please ensure:
- The products used are PAH-free.
- The contractor is licensed and approved by the Village.
All products and contractors must be approved and licensed by the Village. For a list of licensed and approved vendors for 2024, you can visit the Village website.
Northwest Mosquito Abatement District (NWMAD) Update
As warmer weather and increased rainfall return, so does the potential risk of the West Nile virus. The Northwest Mosquito Abatement District (NWMAD) monitors mosquito populations across the 242 square miles we serve by operating 35 mosquito traps.
These traps run continuously from May 1 through October, collecting mosquitoes Monday through Friday. Each specimen is identified by species, and specific species known to carry West Nile virus are tested for the virus. To view the charts, see my message below.
As always, I am here to listen to your thoughts and concerns. Feel free to email me at pmccombie@southbarrington.org, or use the anonymous comment boxes located in the lobbies of Village Hall and the Police Department. I review these messages privately and value your input.
Enjoy the weekend.
