Building permits are required for all new construction and for many home improvements. Construction projects changing the outside appearance will likely require Homeowner’s Association approval prior to submitting your application with the Village.

Permits are required for the construction of a deck, patio, gazebo, at-grade spas, hot tubs, swimming pool, repaving or extending a driveway, driveway monument, tennis court, septic repair, and other types of remodeling including basement, bonus room, and attic finishing.

Getting a permit is one way to assure that the work done in your home meets building codes and specifications.  If work is done in and around your home without a permit, and it is determined that one is required, penalties and fines may be assessed.
