Village of South Barrington Roads

Our Village has approximately 32 miles of residential roadways. The Village maintains most roads, except for the private roads in a few gated subdivisions. County, state and Village jurisdictions of roads coexist and various agencies have direct or indirect control over most of the roads in South Barrington.

Algonquin Road (Route 62)

Route 62 is maintained by the State of Illinois and is a major arterial road and forms part of the northern boundary of the Village.

 

Barrington Road

Barrington Road is maintained by the State of Illinois and runs north and south as it is the gateway to the Barrington area and the main thoroughfare within our Village. The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is undergoing plans to widen Barrington Road between Central Road and IL Route 62 (Algonquin Road).

Bartlett Road

Bartlett Road is maintained by Cook County and runs from Route 59 on the north to Route 72 on the south.

 

Higgins Road (Route 72)

Route 72 is maintained by the State of Illinois and is a major east/west arterial road on the southern border of the Village. Goebbert’s Farm and Garden Center is located off of Higgins Road.

 

Mundhank Road

Mundhank Road is maintained by Cook County and crosses the middle section of the Village from Barrington Road on the east to Route 72 on the south. Willow Creek Church maintains an entrance and exit on Mundhank Road allowing visitors to exit to Barrington Road to the west and Freeman Road to the east.

Palatine Road

Palatine Road is maintained by the State of Illinois and borders the extreme southeast portion of the Village. Cotswald Manor subdivision is located off of Palatine Road.

Penny Road

Penny Road is maintained by Cook County and originates at Route 62 on the north and continues on to the western boundary of the Village to route 59. Rose Elementary school and Stillman Nature Center are located on Penny Road.

Sutton Road (Route 59)

Route 59 is maintained by the State of Illinois and is the only other road besides Barrington Road to run north and south from the Village. Route 59 forms the western boundary of the Village.

Witt Road

The only road the Village maintains which is not within a subdivision. It starts at Penny Road on the north and ends at Mundhank Road on the south and provides access to five subdivision.

Village Snow & Ice Removal Program
