Document Destruction Day
In partnership with SWANCC, the Village of South Barrington will host its Annual Document Shred Event on Saturday, September 5, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. behind Village Hall.
This popular event provides residents with a safe and secure way to dispose of confidential documents, including bank statements, financial records, medical documents, retired tax records, and paperwork containing personal information.
Please note that magazines, newspapers, junk mail, advertisements, coupons, and envelopes will not be accepted. All papers must be dry, loose, and free of metal or plastic clips. There is a limit of six (6) paper bags per household.
Online Home Decorating Contest
Get into the holiday spirit and show off your festive creativity by entering the Village’s Annual Home Decorating Contest!
From twinkling lights and elegant displays to over-the-top holiday scenes, we invite all South Barrington residents to participate. Simply register your decorated home, and once entries are received, the community will have the opportunity to vote online for their favorite display.
It’s a fun way to celebrate the season, spread holiday cheer, and showcase the wonderful homes throughout our community.
Registration details, voting dates, and contest rules will be posted here as the holidays approach. We can’t wait to see your creativity light up South Barrington!
2025 Home Decorating Contest Winner
Congratulations to our 2025 Home Decorating Contest Champion at 45 Revere Drive! 🏆
With more than 170 community votes and three festive entries, 45 Revere Drive captured the hearts of residents and earned the title of our inaugural Online Home Decorating Contest winner. Their spectacular synchronized light display, perfectly choreographed to music, created a truly unforgettable holiday experience and set the bar high for future contests.

Pumpkin Smash
We discovered Pumpkin Smash through SCARCE and immediately knew it was the perfect fit for our Village, a fun way to bring the community together while promoting sustainability.
Join us as we wrap up the fall season with an eco-friendly event the whole family can enjoy! Bring your leftover pumpkins and help us turn Halloween waste into nutrient-rich compost instead of sending it to the landfill. It’s a simple way to reduce waste, protect the environment, and have a little fun in the process.
This event is open to the public, so spread the word and invite your friends, family, and neighbors to join us! Pumpkin Smash is typically held on the Saturday following Halloween, with the date and time confirmed as we get closer to the event.
We can’t wait to smash pumpkins with you and celebrate another season of community, sustainability, and fall fun!
Register Your Veteran Status
The Village of South Barrington is proud to recognize the men and women who have served our country. We invite residents who are veterans to voluntarily register their veteran status with the Village.
By registering, you’ll help us build a confidential list of local veterans who wish to be recognized during community events, patriotic observances, and other special initiatives throughout the year. Our goal is to honor your service in meaningful ways while fostering a stronger sense of community.
Participation is completely voluntary, and you may choose whether or not you would like to be included in future recognition efforts.
