From South Barrington Police Chief Garrison: “Around 03:57 a.m. on Wednesday, August 21, two vehicles in the Meadow Lakes subdivision were stolen from a driveway. Both vehicles were unlocked with the keys left inside. The suspects reportedly drove through several subdivisions before they located the two unlocked vehicles in Meadow Lakes. The suspects also entered 3 other vehicles in South Barrington Lakes and Cutters Run. At the time of this incident, the suspected vehicle did not trigger any of the subdivisions Flock cameras because they had not yet been reported stolen. Our investigation is ongoing. As a reminder, it is important to protect yourself from these situations. Lock your cars, keep the keys and fobs secure, and remove valuables from your car at night. If you see something suspicious, please call 9-1-1 right away.”

South Barrington Police help in apprehension of murder suspect

Earlier this week, there was a homicide crime committed in Chicago, and the subjects of that crime fled to the suburbs. After a 2-hour standoff, the subjects were in custody. There were multiple agencies involved in the apprehension of these 2 subjects including the South Barrington Police Department.

Shred Day on Sept. 7th

Identity theft is on the rise, which is why the Village is hosting a Document Destruction Recycling Event.

The September 7th event will take place at Village Hall, 30 S. Barrington Road, from 9 am to noon. Residents from South Barrington and other SWANCC communities are eligible to participate. Materials will not be accepted from businesses, schools, or institutions at this event. Please bring your ID for verification of residency. Environmental Resource Fair

Come on out for Cook County Commissioner Kevin Morrison’s Environmental Resource Fair this Saturday, August 24, from 12 to 2 p.m. located at Rahlf’s Woods in Streamwood. Family-friendly activities are planned and there will be plenty of goodies to take home such as compost bags, litter pickers, milkweed seeds for Monarch butterflies, and more. Last Arboretum Summer Concert

All good things must come to an end and next week the Wednesday, Arboretum Summer Concert Series will be done for the year. Come out on Wednesday, August 28 from 6:30-9 p.m., to hear The Chain (Tribute to Fleetwood Mac). THE CHAIN pays homage to all the legendary Fleetwood Mac’s greatest hits. The Chain is comprised of five seasoned, talented musicians who have been performing in many musical projects over the years both local and national.
