Dear Residents and Families,
As you prepare to head back to school next week, the Village Board and Staff would like to extend a warm welcome back! We’re excited to see the start of another school year filled with learning, growth, and opportunity. Whether you’re stepping into a new grade, a new school, or new challenges, know that your community is cheering you on every step of the way.
Wishing you a safe, successful, and inspiring school year ahead— the sky is the limit!
We have some changes to announce in regard to bus service in South Barrington. We are partnering with Barrington Community Unit School District 220 on bus routes and one change this year is middle school and high school buses will now enter the neighborhood to collect students from the corner stop at Pentwater and Stonebrook Ct. within the Ponds Neighborhood.
Bus routes for our youngest students in elementary and ELC remain unchanged, with transportation continuing throughout the neighborhood. We appreciate our ongoing partnership with the school district as we continually work on solutions to make our community even better!
Some safety tips for your kids as they start back to school:
- Show your kids how to safely get on/off the bus.
- Never pick anything up in front of or under the bus.
- Cross at least 10 feet in front of the bus so the driver can see them.
- Visibility is Key: Children and bus drivers should always be able to see each other.
Keeping kids safe is a shared responsibility and we are all doing our part.
DRIVING CHANGE: August 20th DMV Town Hall Is Going VIRTUAL
The Illinois DMV is hosting each of their Driving Change town hall meetings virtually to ensure ALL Illinoisans have their voices heard! They want to hear your stories and experiences with car insurance. Visit ilsos.gov/drivingchange to learn more and to RSVP to the town hall meetings.
Upcoming Events with Cook County Commissioner Kevin Morrison
There are some informational and fun events Cook County Commissioner Kevin Morrison has planned for area residents.
His office is hosting an event on the most recent Medicare fraud trends, and how to prevent becoming a victim. In addition to useful information, there will be bingo! This free event at Hanover Township’s Senior Center is open to all ages.
Then, on August 23rd, from 12 to 2 p.m. you’re invited to attend the Environmental Resource Fair, located at Rahlf’s Woods in Streamwood. Family-friendly activities are planned and there will be plenty of goodies to take home such as compost bags, litter pickers, milkweed seeds for Monarch butterflies, and more.
You can find out more about these offerings and what is happening in the 15th District by reading the latest newsletter here.
