Dear Residents,
Next Wednesday, May 8 at 7:00 pm, there is a Plan Commission Public Hearing. Agenda items include a variance for a fence and the continuation of the public hearing for the proposed Forest View Estates subdivision on Freeman and Mundhank Road. There will be a presentation given by AC Power for a proposed solar farm on the closed landfill on Mundhank Road.
Street sweeping begins Tuesday, May 7 on all Village-owned roads. Street sweeping not only picks up the typical debris but also removes salt and sand used on the roads in the winter. Cuba Township may take up to two days to complete the sweeping, so please keep an eye out for these street-sweeping vehicles in your neighborhood. Please help us by moving your cars into your driveway.
Last Friday, Officer Nick Gryzoski graduated from the 16-week Suburban Law Enforcement Academy (SLEA) at the College of DuPage. Nick is a United States Navy Veteran and owned a small business before joining the South Barrington Police Department. Officer Gryzoski has started field training, working side by side with South Barrington officers.

I recently attended a round table in Schaumburg with President Preckwinkle of Cook County and other mayors as well as township supervisors. Kevin Morrison, our representative and Cook County commissioner was able to organize this meeting for us with the President for the second year in a row. We were able to ask her for help on several projects. A shout-out to Kevin and President Preckwinkle for meeting with us in a personal forum and for being so receptive to our municipal needs.
May is Monarch Month! I support the Monarch Pledge with The National Wildlife Federation in preserving the habitat for the monarch butterfly and other pollinators. The Village will work to continue to promote awareness and educate the community on the importance of working to protect them. The South Barrington Conservancy, our only Village owned park, is the proud home of a Butterfly Waystation, which was planted and is maintained by the South Barrington Garden Club. The Waystation is located on the south side of Bridges Drive and is identified by a sign.
The Wickstrom Lincoln Concert Series at The Arb is back for 2024 and it’s going to be bigger and better than ever, featuring Chicagoland’s top bands. The series starts Wednesday, June 19, and goes through August 28. All shows are from 6:30– 9 pm at Main Street Plaza. For a list of bands and dates click here.
