South Barrington, IL – South Barrington Police Department announced it issued 16 citations for hands-free traffic violations and 4 additional citations including speeding, disregarding traffic signals and driving on a suspended license during September’s distracted driving enforcement campaign.
“Driver distraction is a persistent issue in South Barrington that often has life-altering consequences,” said Sgt. Lynch. “Issuing a citation is a proven way to get motorists to pay attention or pay the price. This safety campaign may be over, but we will continue our efforts to stop motorists from engaging in this deadly behavior.”
South Barrington Police joined forces with the Illinois State Police, local law enforcement and highway safety partners for this enforcement effort.
The distracted driving campaign was funded with federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
