Welcome to the Village of South Barrington!

We are happy to help our residents when they make the move to our community. Our goal is to help you as you adjust to your new home and community. Below is a new resident checklist, which should be a helpful guide as you settle into your new community. The Village Hall is located at 30 S. Barrington Road, South Barrington, IL 60010.  Regular business office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Village staff can be reached by phone at 847-381-7510 or by email at villagehall@southbarrington.org.

The South Barrington Police Department is located at 30 S. Barrington Road, South Barrington, IL 60010 in the back of the Village Hall building. Police officers serve the community 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. Police Department administrative staff hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

In the case of an emergency or in order to reach a police officer, please dial 9-1-1. Non-emergency calls dial 847-381-7511, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. After hour calls, please dial 9-1-1.

The Police Department has an Emergency Notification System called CodeRed which they use to relay important/emergency communications to its residents. To sign-up to receive CodeRed notifications, click here.

South Barrington resides within three different fire district service area. Please see the Boundary Map to see what fire district serves your area.

The Village of South Barrington has contracted with Groot through April 2028 for garbage, recycling and yard waste services. Residents will need to call Groot at 800-244-1977 to setup service and receive/order waste carts. Waste service is a flat-rate program that requires each household to pay a monthly charge for services. Recycling services are available and free of charge to all residents.

Yard waste stickers are available at Village Hall for $3.25 each. Yard waste pickup begins the first Monday in April and ends the last Monday of November.

South Barrington is a member of the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC). Residents of South Barrington are able to utilize services provided by SWANCC for various recycling, shredding and disposal services.

The Village of South Barrington is contracted to procure electric supply in a municipal electric aggregation program for residents and small businesses. We are currently in contract with Eligo Energy IL, LLC, whereby residents and small businesses are charged the current ComEd rate and enjoy the benefit of using 100% Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs).

Customers not currently serviced by Eligo are serviced by ComEd, but still are counted as part of our green electric aggregation program.

Qualified residents may be automatically enrolled into this program at the beginning of contract date (October) and have the choice to opt-out at any time. Customers enrolled in Eligo receive an electric bill from ComEd but will notice on the bill their provider is listed at Eligo. The contract for the electric aggregation program with Eligo Energy expires October 2022. Question about your electric account should be directed NIMEC ay 800-727-3820. South Barrington residential subdivisions are on private well and septic systems except for The Regency, Woods, and Village Enclave subdivisions which have a water and sewer system.

Residents of The Woods, Regency, and Village Enclave will need to call the Finance office to setup of billing for this service. Water and sewer services are charged bi-monthly and are payable to the Village of South Barrington. Questions can be directed to h20@southbarrington.org or by calling 847-381-7510.

Private well testing is held periodically by the Barrington Area Council of Governments (BACOG). Testing kits are and sold during the announced dates. Kits will be available for pickup at Village Hall. Information is made available to residents as soon as it announced. Please keep checking our website for these announcements.
