RPZ FOR RESIDENTS WHO ARE ON VILLAGES MUNICIPAL WATER SYSTEM
April showers bring May flowers and May turns into heat and hot summer days which make irrigation a necessity.
Please remember all RPZ (Reduced Pressure Zone) testing information must be submitted prior to turning on your irrigation systems. If your irrigation system will not be used this season, the Village requires a waiver form to be on file.
The RPZ processing is no longer being handled in-house as we have transitioned to BSI for processing and compliance tracking. Prompt submission of required documentation helps ensure compliance and uninterrupted irrigation service.
If you have any questions, please contact Stacey Harris at sharris@southbarrington.org.
MAY PRIVATE WELL MAINTENANCE TIPS
As we all know, spring rains and changing ground conditions can sometimes impact water quality and system performance. A few simple steps, though, can help prevent bigger issues later in the season.

A little maintenance now can help keep your water system running smoothly all summer long. Have your well checked now and avoid future problems this summer.

BIKE RIDING SEASON
Bicycle traffic throughout our community continues to increase, especially with the growing popularity of e-bikes. Whether riding for recreation, exercise, or transportation, safety should always come first for cyclists and motorists alike.
Bike Safety Checklist
- Always wear a properly fitted helmet
- Use lights and reflective gear when riding at dawn, dusk, or night
- Follow all traffic signs and signals
- Ride in the same direction as traffic
- Stay alert and avoid distractions like phones or headphones
- Use hand signals when turning or stopping
- Check brakes, tires, and batteries regularly before riding
- Be extra cautious at intersections and driveways
Please remember e-bikes can travel at higher speeds and are often quieter than traditional bicycles, which means both riders and drivers should use extra caution and remain aware of their surroundings. Parents are encouraged to review safety rules with younger riders and ensure they understand how to operate e-bikes responsibly.
This season let’s all do our part to keep our community moving safely, because every ride matters, every rider matters, and getting home safely is what matters most!
