RPZ FOR RESIDENTS WHO ARE ON VILLAGES MUNICIPAL WATER SYSTEM

April showers bring May flowers and May turns into heat and hot summer days which make irrigation a necessity.

Please remember all RPZ (Reduced Pressure Zone) testing information must be submitted prior to turning on your irrigation systems. If your irrigation system will not be used this season, the Village requires a waiver form to be on file.

The RPZ processing is no longer being handled in-house as we have transitioned to BSI for processing and compliance tracking. Prompt submission of required documentation helps ensure compliance and uninterrupted irrigation service.
If you have any questions, please contact Stacey Harris at sharris@southbarrington.org.

MAY PRIVATE WELL MAINTENANCE TIPS

As we all know, spring rains and changing ground conditions can sometimes impact water quality and system performance. A few simple steps, though, can help prevent bigger issues later in the season.

A little maintenance now can help keep your water system running smoothly all summer long. Have your well checked now and avoid future problems this summer.

BIKE RIDING SEASON

Bicycle traffic throughout our community continues to increase, especially with the growing popularity of e-bikes. Whether riding for recreation, exercise, or transportation, safety should always come first for cyclists and motorists alike.

Bike Safety Checklist

  • Always wear a properly fitted helmet
  • Use lights and reflective gear when riding at dawn, dusk, or night
  • Follow all traffic signs and signals
  • Ride in the same direction as traffic
  • Stay alert and avoid distractions like phones or headphones
  • Use hand signals when turning or stopping
  • Check brakes, tires, and batteries regularly before riding
  • Be extra cautious at intersections and driveways

Please remember e-bikes can travel at higher speeds and are often quieter than traditional bicycles, which means both riders and drivers should use extra caution and remain aware of their surroundings. Parents are encouraged to review safety rules with younger riders and ensure they understand how to operate e-bikes responsibly.

This season let’s all do our part to keep our community moving safely, because every ride matters, every rider matters, and getting home safely is what matters most!

CRICKET FEVER IN SOUTH BARRINGTON

The sound of leather on willow is back as the Midwest Cricket Conference returns for another exciting season right here in South Barrington! With fast-paced action, incredible athleticism, and a growing fan base across the country, cricket continues to rise in popularity, and our community is proud to be part of it.

Residents are encouraged to come out, experience the energy of the matches, and cheer on some outstanding local and regional teams competing throughout the season. Whether you’re a lifelong cricket fan or watching for the very first time, there’s something exciting about seeing this internationally loved sport played right here in our own backyard.

Games will be taking place on May 9th and May 10th at both the Crescent Grounds and SBCC Grounds (175 Studio Drive), located across from the AMC Theater next to BMO Harris Bank. Residents may notice increased activity in the area throughout the weekend as teams and spectators gather for the matches.

Bring the family and enjoy a unique community sporting experience this spring and summer!

For full schedules, team information, and match details, visit the Midwest Cricket Conference.

As always, I am here to listen to your thoughts and concerns. Feel free to email me at pmccombie@southbarrington.org, or use the anonymous comment boxes located in the lobbies of Village Hall and the Police Department. I review these messages privately and value your input.

Have an enjoyable weekend!
