Dear Residents,
May is graduation month and here locally, we had a graduation of our own as last Friday, Officer Carter Crokin graduated from the 16-week Suburban Law Enforcement Academy (SLEA) at the College of DuPage.
Officer Crokin has started field training, working side by side with South Barrington Officers. Congratulations Officer Crokin!

Arbor Day Tree Planting
I want to thank everyone who participated in the Village’s Arbor Day celebration with the planting of a Spring Snow Crabapple Tree in the Conservancy.
The Arbor Day Proclamation honoring our commitment to being recognized as a Tree City USA was read and a discussion on the tree ensued. There are informational signs near each tree in the Conservancy that has been planted for Arbor Day. Thank you again to those who attended.

Emergency Management
As I mentioned last week, I took part in an Emergency Management skills training with Trustee Dr. Patel, Trustee Dr. Stagno, and Administrator Mike Dropka. I would like to highlight some of the information we learned from that experience.
With spring comes tornadoes which have been occurring in rare places such as bigger cities like Chicago. Everyone should be aware on how to stay safe during these storms. It is essential to have a plan for a tornado event. Here are some action items for tornado preparedness:
- Find shelter locations from high winds
- Practice tornado drills
- Have a plan to stay connected
- Gather emergency supplies
- Learn emergency skills
For more information pertaining to Tornado Safety visit the American Red Cross.
Village Weather Station
As the saying goes, April showers bring beautiful May flowers.
Area residents can keep track of local rainfall and better care for their flowers and plants thanks to the Village Weather station. The Village of South Barrington has established a weather station at Village Hall which allows users to track rainfall, wind, air quality, barometric pressures, temperatures, and other interesting weather-related information specific to our area. This station is public and allows users to also look up historical information on rainfall, temperatures, etc. The weather station is available to download to your desktop or mobile device.
