Dear Residents,
News at the state level, Governor JB Pritzker has signed the increased 2026 state budget into law. (over $55 billion) https://budget.illinois.gov/
Last Friday, I attended the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus in Chicago at the old Post Office building. We are a member of this Caucus which includes 275 cities, towns and Villages in the Chicago Region. It was a lengthy meeting that lasted all morning and into the afternoon. The Executive Board Chair is Nancy Rotering, Mayor of Highland Park. I was asked to give a brief speech on the Environment and Energy Initiative which was one of the topics discussed at this meeting. I have been a long-time member of that committee. Other topics discussed were 1. Help Stop Hate 2. Aging in a Changing Region Program Assessment 3. Housing and Community Development 4. A general discussion on Transportation and inclusion. It is a valuable group to be part of in hopes that our unification results in a better say in the government initiatives for the State of Illinois.
