Dear Residents,
A Senior Seminar focusing on Financial Scams will be held on Wednesday, December 6, at 1 p.m. at our Village Hall in Rose Hall. Cook County Commissioner Kevin Morrison and Assistant States Attorney Kristin Piper St. Claire are sponsoring this event. The seminar will focus on scams that are most often used to defraud seniors. You will learn about different types of financial scams, key signs to identify a scam, and how seniors can protect themselves. Like other Villages, we have had attempted scams take place in our Village which have been reported to the police department. I encourage you to attend. For more information about this event, you can call 847.519.7674.
This past Monday, the Barrington Countryside Fire Department held a promotional ceremony. Chief Motisi welcomed attendees, then recognized the individuals that were promoted (Lieutenant Matthew Campbell, Captain Timothy Buhler, Captain Timothy Christenberry and Battalion Chief Erik Mandel). The Barrington Countryside Fire Department continues to provide great service. Two of the Trustees on this board, Marvin Hill and Dr. Thomas Long are South Barrington residents.
Congratulations to all those that were promoted.

The Park District will usher in the Christmas season with a number of events (registration required). In keeping with tradition, Santa will be arriving in a helicopter at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, December 2. There will also be The Grinch Candy Cane Hunt starting at 10:00, and Santa’s Workshop that starts immediately after his arrival. Be sure to register early on the Park District Website to reserve your spot.
Tomorrow, Saturday, November 25, is Small Business Saturday. A day to celebrate and support small businesses and all they do for their communities. Small businesses need our support as they continue to navigate, retool and pivot from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Arboretum is all holiday ready with many great areas for festive pictures and creating memories. Every Saturday from now through December 23, Santa will be on hand for pictures in the Holiday Tent (near Star Cinema Grill) from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Caibre Coffee will be there with hot cocoa and RC Juggles is providing face painting and balloon art.
Be sure to bring your wish list and camera!
As a reminder, this will be the last week to donate to Barrington Giving Day donation box located in the Village Hall. Please consider donating new or gently used coats, boots, snow pants, hats, gloves, blankets, books, toys, and unopened diapers and wipes. All donations go to School District 220 families in need. A donation box is located in the lobby of Village Hall. Donations accepted weekdays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through December 1.
I wish you and your family an enjoyable, safe, and happy Thanksgiving weekend.
