At our Village Board meeting last night, Deputy Chief Michael Garrison was sworn in as South Barrington’s new Police Chief.  He took the oath of office surrounded by his fellow officers, Village staff, and family. He has been in the role of Deputy Chief with South Barrington for almost two years and was the Deputy Chief in Elk Grove prior to coming here.  Congratulations to Mike on his new position! It is well deserved.

There was a great turnout for the Village’s proclamation recognizing Gita Utsav as a Profound Meditative Event for the Illinois Indian Community.  The event is this weekend at the NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates. As the second installment of property tax bills for Cook County residents is coming due, Finance Director Wayde Frerichs would like to explain financially why your Real Estate taxes are a prime budget consideration for all property owners in the State of Illinois.  The real estate tax paid each year is a function of the property’s assessed value and the tax levies by the applicable taxing districts.  There are about 22 different tax codes (combinations of taxing agencies) for most properties in South Barrington. The graph below shows the proportion of taxes received by each taxing district in the tax code 10041, which makes up the majority of the Village. This total dollar amount is $7.514 per $100 of assessed property value. If you are a resident with another tax code, your tax breakdown would be slightly different.  To see the breakdown of your real estate taxes and for more information please view the information below.

There are two upcoming concerts at the Arboretum.  The Pino Farina Band will be playing this Sunday, July 14, from 1-3 p.m. on the Main Street Plaza Stage. The Pino Farina Band is known for their showmanship and high-energy performances.  Next Wednesday, July 17, the Summer Concert Series continues with Mike & Joe. Come out to hear the modern rock cover band widely regarded as one of the best sounding cover bands in the nation.
