Dear Residents,
Happy New Year!
One of the immediate goals of the New Year is to fill a vacancy on the Architectural Control Commission (ACC).
There is currently one opening on the committee, due to a member moving to California. If you or anyone you know has an architectural background, please consider putting your name in for consideration. As a volunteer member of the ACC, you will be involved in attending some evening meetings, interpreting, and administering the Village’s architectural codes and/or ordinances, and providing recommendations to petitioners and the Village Board on commercial properties, signage, etc. We presently have two architects on this 7-member committee.
Anyone interested in becoming a member of the ACC should call the Village Hall at 847.381.7510 to schedule an appointment with me.
Public Hearings
Please remember to mark your calendar for the public hearing we will be holding on Tuesday, January 7. We have some important items we will be discussing at a series of public hearings beginning on the 7th. Please attend if you are interested in the AC Solar Community Project at the decommissioned landfill on Mundhank Road, Bespoke at the Arboretum of South Barrington for car Condos, (not for residences but rather for owners’ prized cars), or lastly for boat storage on Lakes.
These public hearings will begin at 7 pm.
Arboretum Openings
I am pleased to welcome a new business to our town in The Arboretum of South Barrington, Dirty Dough. They are now open and can be found at 100 W. Higgins Rd. L-3. Dirty Dough is known for super-stuffed cookie bombs! “You won’t find a thicker, softer, more gooey or flavorful cookie than these.” The “Dirty” refers to all the fillings, mix-ins and layers that go into their special cookie process. To see the hours of operation and options visit Dirty Dough.
Dawg Park Re-opens
The Dawg Park restaurant has now re-opened! Stop in for a fun dining experience. There is a 20% code below my message valid in the restaurant, until January 15th.
Dawg Park is located at 100 W. Higgins Rd., L-60. To view their website and hours of operation visit Dawg Park.
Tax Return Assistance
The Barrington Council on Aging (BACOA) is assisting older adults with filing their income tax returns beginning in February and running through April. Trained AARP tax volunteers will help senior citizens complete and file their returns. To make an appointment call 847-381-5030, and for more information on this program and other upcoming BACOA events, click here.
A New Year gives us the opportunity to reflect on the past year and to look forward to what lies ahead. Next week I will be sharing with you the Village’s many accomplishments of 2024.
As always, I am here to listen to your thoughts and concerns. Feel free to email me at pmccombie@southbarrington.org, or use the anonymous comment boxes located in the lobbies of Village Hall and the Police Department. I review these messages privately and value your input.
Have a very Happy New Year!
Paula McCombie
Mayor
