Dear Residents,
The world is full of bad news but having the opportunity to focus on good news is one of the more rewarding aspects of serving as Mayor of our community.
On Wednesday, February 12, I had the opportunity to speak about the good things happening in our community at the Barrington Area Economic Summit in Barrington. It was a sold-out event. I enjoyed being able to speak about the great Village we call home. I talked about some of the recent economic development projects in our community as well as the steps we are taking to continue to improve public safety. Of course, I don’t need an economic forum or really any kind of forum to talk about what a great place South Barrington is to live, but if given the floor to speak – I will take it.

Bespoke car condo project
The Plan Commission/Zoning Board of appeals met last night and recommended a new project for the Arboretum of South Barrington. The BeSpoke car condo project in the Arboretum of South Barrington will consist of 38 luxury car condominiums (not residential) and will provide a kind of clubhouse feel for the car owners. The project was recommended to proceed and will now go to the Board of Trustees for approval at the next board meeting on March 13th.
Conservancy Survey
As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency, we are asking residents to vote on the Final Conservancy Survey. If you have not already done so, please VOTE as the results will be submitted with our final application. Voting for the survey will close on Friday, February 28. For more information see the link below. Your input is needed to help shape and determine the future of our South Barrington Conservancy.
RPZ Notice
Attention residents of the Woods of South Barrington and Village Enclave!
You will receive notice of the required RPZ (Reduced Pressure Zone) device testing with their February water bill. RPZ backflow prevention devices are designed to stop contamination from getting into the water supply.
The IEPA, which monitors water quality, requires RPZ valves to be tested annually. Only a licensed plumber with a Cross Connection Certification License can test and certify the proper operation of an RPZ valve. Once the valve is tested, the certification paperwork must be forwarded to the Village to keep on file for IEPA compliance. These reports are due to the Village by Friday, May 16, 2025.
IF you have not had your RPZ tested, or it has been tested and failed, do NOT use your irrigation system until a pass report has been submitted. If you do not know if your irrigation system passed, contact the business that performed the test before using your system.
For those of you opting out of having the testing done, and therefore agreeing to not using your irrigation system, you can fill out the 2025 Waiver. The waiver can be found on our website or by clicking here. You must turn in the waiver to the Village to be compliant by the due date of Friday, May 16, 2025.
Goat Yoga
Our very own Goat Yoga, located here in The Arboretum, was featured on WGN Channel 9 morning news. News personalities rolled out their mats and joined the furry yogis as Goat Yoga showed Chicago how they do things the Goat Yoga Chicago way—with plenty of laughs, stretches, and, of course, goat snuggles.
You can watch the full segment HERE. Goat Yoga isn’t just about stretching, it’s about having fun, making memories, and embracing the unexpected. And they want YOU to experience it too! Spots fill up fast, so book a class or two today you can view the Class Schedule and see what works for you.
Recycle Holiday Lights
Next Friday is the last day to turn in your used holiday lights, as we will be wrapping up our Light Recycling program for the season. Please drop off your used, old, or broken holiday lights at the main entrance of the Village Hall, 30 S. Barrington Road. The following items are accepted: mini lights (or Italian lights), C7 lights, C9 lights, rope lights, LED lights, and extension cords.
As always, I am here to listen to your thoughts and concerns. Feel free to email me at pmccombie@southbarrington.org, or use the anonymous comment boxes located in the lobbies of Village Hall and the Police Department. I review these messages privately and value your input.
Have a great weekend,
Paula McCombie
