Dear Residents,
Friday, we meet again!
It’s been another busy and productive week here at the Village, and I have some exciting updates to share.
At last night’s Board meeting, we officially kicked off our “Sign Your Legacy” initiative as part of our America250 community engagement efforts. Trustees, along with members of the public in attendance, were among the first to sign our America250 flag, which will serve as a time capsule piece for the Village for years to come.
Signing the flag is more than just adding your name, it’s a way to leave your mark on this historic milestone. As our nation approaches its 250th anniversary, this flag will represent the people, families, businesses, and students who make up the heart of South Barrington. Each signature reflects pride in our community, appreciation for our shared history, and hope for the future we continue to build together.
Our goal is to collect at least 250 signatures from the South Barrington community, including residents, businesses, schools, and community organizations, between now and the end of February.
We invite all South Barrington residents to stop by Village Hall, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., now through the end of February, to add your signature to the flag and be part of this lasting tribute.
Let’s make history together!

Village Emergency Notification System Transition to Everbridge
The Village is in the process of upgrading our emergency notification system to Everbridge, a nationally recognized public safety communication platform used by municipalities across the country.
This transition will allow us to communicate more effectively with residents during emergencies and other important situations. Everbridge provides enhanced reliability, faster message delivery, and expanded communication capabilities to help keep our community informed and safe.
Benefits of Everbridge include:
- Real-time emergency alerts and critical updates
- Multiple notification methods (phone call, text message, and email)
- Ability for residents to customize how and where alerts are received
- Improved system reliability and delivery speed
- Secure and widely trusted public safety platform
- No cost to residents to sign up
During this transition period, we are working to finalize system setup and registration details. Once registration is available, we will provide clear instructions on how residents can register to receive notifications.
We appreciate your patience as we implement this important upgrade to improve public safety communication within our community.
Job Opening: Full-Time Police Records Clerk
The Village of South Barrington is seeking a full-time Police Records Clerk to join our Police Department. This role is vital to the department’s daily operations, serving as the first point of contact for residents and ensuring that all records and information are accurately maintained. The Police Records Clerk helps the department operate efficiently, supports public safety, and provides essential assistance to officers and staff. This position is ideal for someone detail-oriented, organized, and committed to serving the community.
A full job description is available on our website, and applications are being accepted now through March 1, 2026.

Pothole Season is Here – Help Us Keep Our Streets Smooth!
As temperatures fluctuate and winter wear takes its toll, potholes can pop up across our streets, creating hazards for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians alike.
We need your help to keep South Barrington roads safe and smooth. If you notice a pothole in your neighborhood, please report it through our website. Providing the location helps our Public Works team respond quickly and efficiently to repair the damage.
Reporting potholes is simple, quick, and makes a big difference in keeping our streets safe for everyone. By working together, we can make sure our roads stay in top condition as we move into spring and summer.

A Sharp New Addition: Ribbon Cutting for Skyward Fencing!
On Tuesday, Trustee Kazi and I had the pleasure of joining the Skyward Fencing team for their ribbon cutting ceremony, officially welcoming them to South Barrington!
Located in The Arboretum, Skyward Fencing offers a unique opportunity to learn, or sharpen, your fencing skills. Now enrolling students ages 6 through adult, they provide instruction for beginners through advanced competitors, including athletes training for regional, national, and international competition.
Skyward Fencing blends the rich tradition of the sport with modern, cutting-edge techniques, all under the leadership of renowned instructor Adam Ali.
We’re excited to see Skyward Fencing join our business community and look forward to their continued success!
