Dear Residents,
Election Day has come and gone and I want to take a moment to express how
honored I am to have been re-elected as your Village President. I look forward to
continuing to serve this great community in the next four years.
I also want to congratulate our re-elected trustee, Joe Abbate, our two newly
elected Trustees Shahzad Kazi and Daniel Zierk, along with Village Clerk Dr.
Marilyn Stagno who will also be serving 4-year terms.
Congratulations are also in order for School District 220 winners Steve Wang,
Katie Karam, Erin Chan Ding, and Sandra Ficke-Bradford as well as Barrington
Township positions Supervisor Robert Alberding; Clerk; Daniel Fitzgerald;
Assessor Mike Gentile; and Trustees Michael Deering, Vince Deligio, John
Langan, and Tim O’Donnell.
Other winners from Tuesday’ elections include Barrington Public Library Trustee
Carrie Carr, Rachel Forsyth-Tuerck, and Richard McCarthy. If you are interested in
more information on who won area elections, visit the Cook County Clerk’s
website here or the Lake County website here. These are all unofficial results
and should be official in 2 weeks.
Burglary suspects apprehended
An early morning incident occurred recently in the Terra Vita subdivision. The
incident began as a burglary involving three people that were stealing farm
equipment in Kane County. Police were pursuing them on the expressway when
they exited northbound on Barrington Road from I-90. They turned left onto
Mundhank Rd. and then cut through a farm field before exiting into the Terra Vita
neighborhood.
At that point, several of our partner Police agencies became involved. The suspects
stopped their vehicle and fled. Within about 5-10 minutes all subjects were taken
into custody. The officers did an excellent job and one of our own was responsible
for the capture of one of the subjects.
Being next to the expressway and having exits on both Barrington Road and
Route 59 is a wonderful convenience for our community, but it also means easy for
criminals who are trying to evade the police. We have and will continue to make
public safety a high priority in South Barrington. The quick response of our
officers ensures incidents like this ended with no one in our community being hurt.
We can’t control who comes into our community, but we can control how quickly
and effectively we respond to incidents like this, and our police department
continues to do an excellent job in keeping our community safe.
Tree City USA Recognition
The Village again received recognition as a “Tree City USA” in addition to the
“Growth Award” for dedication to caring for and investing in village trees. The
Tree City USA Growth Award is presented by the Arbor Day Foundation to the
participating Tree City USA communities that demonstrate higher levels of tree
care and community engagement during the calendar year. We are honored to be
recognized as a Tree City for six years (2019-2025) in a row.
