Mayor’s Message April 11, 2025

  • Posted by Chrissie Mena
  • On April 11, 2025

Dear Residents,

Budget season is officially underway. The Village’s preliminary budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year was presented to the Board at last night’s meeting and is on file at the Village Hall for review. The final approval for the fiscal year 2025-2026 budget will be on the agenda for the May 8th Board Meeting.

NEW Advocate Outpatient Center

On Wednesday, April 9th, I attended the ribbon cutting at the NEW Advocate Health Care’s new immediate care and outpatient center now open in Hoffman Estates. This is an ideal location as it will “expand access to patient care in South Barrington and throughout the northwest suburbs.”

Opening of New Advocate Outpatient Center Ribbon Cutting with Mayor McCombie.

Pictured above, center-right, Mayor McCombie attends ribbon cutting with Mayor McCleod, Karen Lambert, and many others.

The brand new Outpatient Center is located at 4847 Hoffman Blvd., near Illinois Route 59 and Interstate 90 just South of the Target on 72 and 59. This Center offers Primary Care, Immediate Care,  Cardiology, General Surgery, Laboratory, Mammogram, Physical Therapy, Diet and Nutrition, Ultrasound, x-ray, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatric and Congenital Cardiology, Pediatric Endocrinology, Pediatric Gastroenterology, Pediatric Nephrology, Pediatric Pulmonology, Urology, and gynecology. The outpatient center will also soon offer Orthopedics as well.

The center is designed with a new model of outpatient facilities that allows patients to wait in their examination room rather than in a lobby. The center will also be home to an additional location of Advocate Health Care’s South Asian Cardiovascular Center. For more information on what services that are offered read below.

Pathways Learning Academy ribbon cutting

In addition to the ribbon cutting at Advocate Health Care’s new outpatient center, I was able to attend the ribbon cutting event at Pathways Learning Academy in our South Barrington Willow Creek Church.

The new facility has a “quality care” program and “early learning” with programs for ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. Their programs feature “dedicated, experienced teachers and personalized learning opportunities.” The programs are open to the public and membership at Willow Creek Church is not required. They also offer live streaming of your child as well as meals and there are full and part-time enrollment options.

Come check out the new learning academy at their open house on Sunday, April 27th, from 10am to 2pm.

Arbor Day

Arbor Day is Friday, April 25th and to commemorate the occasion, we honored the event with a Proclamation approved at last night’s board meeting. This is the 152nd year for Arbor Day.

Every year we hold an Arbor Day ceremony and plant a tree in the Conservancy. Adopting a proclamation and planting a tree is part of the requirement set by the Arbor Day Foundation in order to be a Tree City USA. When we have a date for the tree ceremony at the Conservancy, it will be published in this newsletter and on our website. Coffee and Donuts will be served.

Restore the Canopy: Plant a Tree

Residents do not have to wait to celebrate the spirit of Arbor Day and the Tree USA initiative.

The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MWRD) provides free native tree saplings through their “Restore the Canopy, Plant a Tree” program. Native trees can help reduce flooding by soaking up rainwater. Trees also produce oxygen, keep neighborhoods cooler, provide habitat for wildlife, lower energy bills and store carbon dioxide to help address climate change. For those that are interested in this program, you can learn more by clicking MWRD, or reading below in my message.

Goebbert’s Now Open

Goebbert’s is officially open for Spring!

Spring is a wonderful time to start planning your planting, add some color to your planters or simply partake in some of their educational workshops. The hours of operation in April are daily from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. After April, please check their website for their new hours of operation. For information or inquiries, visit Goebbert’s.

Tax Day

As a reminder, for most taxpayers, the filing deadline to submit your 2024 Federal Income Tax returns is this Tuesday, April 15th. Taxpayers requesting an extension will have until Tuesday, October 15th, to file.

As always, I am here to listen to your thoughts and concerns. Feel free to email me at pmccombie@southbarrington.org, or use the anonymous comment boxes located in the lobbies of Village Hall and the Police Department. I review these messages privately and value your input.

Have a great weekend,

Paula McCombie
Mayor
