Dear Residents,
Happy Halloween!
There is nothing quite like the sights and sounds of kids and families walking our streets showcasing their creative costumes and perhaps indulging in a little too much candy. Please remember to look out for Trick or Treaters if you are on the road. Also, remember that if you do not want Trick or Treaters at your door to please turn off your lights.
Pumpkin Smash
After the Halloween costumes are packed away and the candy is almost gone; the fun is just getting started.
Don’t throw out those pumpkins, bring them to our Pumpkin Smash event on November 8th from 9:30 – noon at the Conservancy and help us keep them out of the landfills and turn them into compost gold!
Whether you’d like to join in the smashing or simply cheer others on, everyone is welcome! And while we encourage a bit of mess, disposable aprons will be available for those who prefer not to wear their pumpkin home.
Goebbert’s will be on-site selling hot and cold cider along with fall treats, and both the Barrington Countryside FPD and East Dundee Fire District will be there to support the fun!

Registration not required, but appreciated! You can register by emailing Makayla at mterfehn@southbarrington.org
Clarification on Police Activity Near the Arboretum
I am sure there are some questions about the police activity near the Arboretum yesterday. I would like to provide some clarity to ensure you have the facts.
The South Barrington Police Department teamed up with the Illinois State Police to conduct commercial vehicle safety checks along Route 72, east of Route 59.
- 73 commercial vehicles were inspected
- 3 were found to be overweight
- 17 had safety violations (such as unsafe tires) and were not permitted to continue driving
- 15 were uninsured
“This type of enforcement helps ensure commercial operators are held accountable for the safety of their vehicles and helps protect all motorists from unsafe or uninsured commercial vehicles on the roadway.” Deputy Chief Puralewski stated.
We appreciate everyone who reached out with questions and concerns and I would like to thank our officers and the Illinois State Police for their continued efforts to keep our roads safe!

Honoring Our Local Veterans
Veterans Day is almost here, and as we look to celebrate and honor the veterans we have living in South Barrington, we are requesting some information.
We are inviting any South Barrington residents who have served in the military to consider registering your Veteran status with us.
Register Your Veteran Status Here ➜ CLICK HERE
Participation is voluntary, and residents may choose to answer all or only some of the questions. The information collected will help the Village find meaningful ways to recognize and honor our local heroes, not just on Veterans Day, but throughout the year.

Your commitment, service, and sacrifice are deeply appreciated by our community. And whether you fill out the survey or not, on behalf of the Village of South Barrington, thank you for your service.
Donation Drop-Off Box Located at Village Hall
The Holiday season is a time of giving and I would like to make you aware of an opportunity to support families in need we have available at the Village.
The Willow Creek Care Center has a donation drop box located here in the furthest west parking lot behind the Police Department. The drop box is available 24/7, providing a convenient way to donate new or gently used items to support local families in need.
There is an immediate need for boys’ and girls’ clothing, from infant sizes up to size 16, with a particular need for boys’ sizes 2T–10.
If you are looking to donate, please consider stopping by the drop box.
Thank you in advance to all who participate in this worthwhile community endeavor!

Goebberts – Thanksgiving Pre-Orders
Goebberts has wrapped up another wonderful season! The farm continues to bring joy and memorable experiences to our community; we thank them for their hard work on behalf of our community.
The farm may be closed for the season, but they are taking Thanksgiving Pie & Donut orders. Be sure to pre-order by November 21 to enjoy these seasonal treats. Your Thanksgiving dinner won’t be complete without them!

Success at the Ar-BOO-Retum Trick-or-Treat Event
What a fantastic turnout at this year’s Ar-BOO-Retum! Nearly 3,000 people joined at The Arboretum of South Barrington for an afternoon of trick-or-treating and family fun.
You can really tell community means everything at Heidner Properties, and events like this remind everyone just how special South Barrington is.
We’re especially grateful our South Barrington Police Officers got to play a part in the fun, handing out candy and connecting with families throughout the day. ♂️
We hope everyone had as great a time at Ar-BOO-Retum!

As always, I am here to listen to your thoughts and concerns. Feel free to email me at pmccombie@southbarrington.org, or use the anonymous comment boxes located in the lobbies of Village Hall and the Police Department. I review these messages privately and value your input.
Have an enjoyable weekend!

Paula McCombie
