Dear Residents,
One of the issues I am frequently asked about is the escalating property taxes in Cook County and that is especially true lately.
Some reassessment notices sent out to residents are said to show reassessments up by more than 42%. Taxes are always paid in arrears which means that this year you will be paying the tax bill for 2024. There are steps you can take to potentially lower your property tax bills and if you are interested in learning more, join us on Monday, Aug. 4th for an event to discuss the real estate reassessment increases.
We are partnering with Barrington Township and the Cook County Assessor’s for this special event. Take a look at your reassessment notice and bring it with you to the event which will be on Monday, August 4th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Village in Rose Hall.
If you believe your property has been over-assessed, this is your opportunity to learn more about the appeals process.
Finally, please note the deadline for filing an appeal is Friday, August 15th.

O’Hare Area Bike Study
You have the opportunity to help shape the future of bike trails in Cook County and advocate for projects to improve our community.
The Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways is conducting an O’Hare Area Bike Network Study, which is a plan to evaluate and identify opportunities to create a more connected bikeway network in the communities around O’Hare airport.
We have and will continue to work on obtaining grants to pay for an engineering bike/pedestrian study for South Barrington. These studies are very costly, and we need grants to get them done. By taking the survey, you can help guide the development of the network study, share your experiences and future vision, and offer your perspectives, insights, needs, and advocate for resources to enhance our community with a world class bike trail.
Visit https://metroquestsurvey.com/6sk8x to take the survey. Please note all survey responses are due by August 15th.

Nashville Night
The 2025 Wickstrom Lincoln Summer Concert Series at The Arboretum of South Barrington is going country as Nashville Night returns
In The Stix will perform on Aug. 6th. The group is one of the hottest Modern Country cover bands around. Hear some of your favorite tunes from such country artists as Jason Aldean, Keith Urban, Brantley Gilbert, Luke Bryan, Randy Houser and more.
Come for the music but also stay for:
- Line Dancing with Kickin’ It with Carol
- Mechanical Bull Rides
- Meeting the Mini Therapy Horses
- Helping Paws Animal Shelter
If you love country music, you will not want to miss Nashville Night at the Arboretum.
As always, I am here to listen to your thoughts and concerns. Feel free to email me at pmccombie@southbarrington.org, or use the anonymous comment boxes located in the lobbies of Village Hall and the Police Department. I review these messages privately and value your input.
Have an enjoyable weekend!
