Dear Residents,
Last night the Plan Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals made a recommendation for a final approval of the new proposed subdivision on the southwest corner of Mundhank and Freeman Road.
Previously this subdivision was known as Forest View, but recently the name has been changed to Jade. This subdivision will consist of 22 custom built homes. Several agency permits are still required before building permits will be issued. The recommendation from the Commission has several requests attached to it. The board will be voting on this development at the regular board meeting on April 10th.
Spring Break
Next week several area schools will be on Spring Break.
If you anticipate going out of town for Spring Break, please consider signing up for the House Watch program. As I previously mentioned, the House Watch program is available through the South Barrington Police Department. Once you have signed up for the House Watch, a Police Officer will conduct a periodic external check on your home while you are away. To fill out the form online, click here.
Holiday Lights
The Village holiday light recycling program is complete. We received approximately 150 pounds of lights to recycle. Thank you to all of those who dropped off their lights to the Village instead of adding to the landfills.
Spring Cleaning
Spring is here and as you begin your spring cleaning projects this year, please consider donating any unwanted items you may have to The Spring Donation Drive sponsored by Barrington Giving Day.
Donated items can be dropped off at the Barrington Giving Day Donation Center. The available hours for donation are Wednesdays 9 a.m.-12 p.m. & Saturdays 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at The Arboretum of South Barrington 100 W. Higgins Rd Suite Q15 (Between DSW and The Loft store). For more information regarding this event see below in my message.
Home Improvement
Spring is not just for cleaning as many homeowners begin renovation projects such as kitchen and bathroom remodeling, electric car chargers, patios, pergolas, driveways, and roof re-shingling.
Projects like this do require a Village building permit. Village Permit Applications are available on our website here; guidelines about specific projects are also on the website under Construction Guidelines. Please note that a dumpster permit is required when renting a dumpster, outside of a building permit project. To make sure your project’s construction follows the Village Code or if you have questions regarding the permit process, please call the Building Department 847-381-7513 or visit the Village website.
Rentals
Anyone renting or are offering rental of your South Barrington home or guest space is required to have a valid South Barrington Rental License.
Licenses are valid for one year and expire March 31; rentals must be for a minimum of 4 months. Rental License Applications are available on our website here. Submit the required application, supporting documents, and fee to the Village before May 1 to avoid penalties.
For a copy of the Village Code related to the Licensing of Single Family Rental Properties, click here. If you have questions, please contact Ryan Murphy at 847-381-7510.
As always, I am here to listen to your thoughts and concerns. Feel free to email me at pmccombie@southbarrington.org, or use the anonymous comment boxes located in the lobbies of Village Hall and the Police Department. I review these messages privately and value your input.
Have a great weekend,
Paula McCombie
