Dear Residents,
With the year rapidly drawing to a close, I only have a few items to share with you this week.
First, the Village Hall administrative offices will be closed on Wednesday, January 1st in observance of the New Year holiday. We will resume regular business hours on Thursday, January 2 at 8:00 am. Although the offices are closed, our police officers are on duty 24 hours a day, including holidays and weekends. If you need to contact the police department, do not hesitate to call 9-1-1.
Public Hearings
Coming up on January 7, we have some important items we will be discussing at a series of public hearings. Please attend if you are interested as topics such as the AC Solar Community Project at the decommissioned landfill on Mundhank Road will be discussed. Another project is coming from Bespoke for car Condos, which is not for residences but rather is to be built for owners’ prized cars at the Arboretum of South Barrington. Lastly is Boat Storage for those who live on Lakes. These public hearings will begin at 7pm.
Village Website
The Village website can be a useful tool throughout the year. The site contains many user-friendly features such as fillable forms for both the Village as well as the Police Department.
The Police forms include:
- House watch- Residents fill out this form when they are away from their home. Police can then patrol their home in their absence.
- Overnight parking-Residents can fill out this form for overnight parking; to ensure that a ticket is not given.
- Pet management- Residents can provide information in case of a lost or stolen pet.
Once completed, the forms are then added to the police database. To view these forms from our website, click here.
To make it more convenient for motorists, one of the fillable forms on the Village website is dedicated to reporting potholes. All roads are subject to wear and tear. In addition to extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, the breakdown of the roads creates potholes. When this happens, a pothole forms due to traffic removing broken pieces of pavement. To view or fill out the pothole form click here.
Christmas Tree Pickup
Groot will begin to pick-up discarded Christmas trees starting Monday, January 7, during regular garbage collection. Please make sure to remove all lights, ornaments, garland, and tinsel from your tree when setting it out at the curb. Groot will continue to pick up trees through January on regular collection days (Mondays). There is no yard waste sticker required.
As always, I am here to listen to your thoughts and concerns. Feel free to email me at pmccombie@southbarrington.org, or use the anonymous comment boxes located in the lobbies of Village Hall and the Police Department. I review these messages privately and value your input.
Have a very Happy New Year!
Paula McCombie
Mayor
