Dear Residents,
The first snowfall of the season did not hinder the Village’s project to remove 9 dead trees, grind 24 stumps, and plant 18 oak trees over the last two weeks with the help of outside contractors. More tree maintenance work, identified by our recent tree survey, will be occurring in the spring.
The Cook Country Treasurer has posted the second installment property tax bills on their website. These bills will be in the mail to you shortly and are due by December 30. To view, print or pay your bill online, go to cookcountytreasurer.com and click on the purple box.
At last week’s Board meeting, Dr. Kanu Panchal took the Oath of Office as a new Village Board Trustee, filling Trustee Kerman’s position until the next election in April 2023

I also appointed resident Shahzad Kazi to the Plan Commission in November to fill a vacancy from longtime member David White’s resignation. The Plan Commission will soon be reviewing an updated Comprehensive Plan, so I am grateful to have a full commission for this important job.

On Monday, November 14, Trustees Guranovich and Stagno were invited to Prairie Middle School to discuss how local government works. The 7th graders presented their “elevator pitch” local government project to the Trustees. Students were encouraged to attend a local government public meeting to have their ideas heard by the entire Village Board.

If you are planning on being away for the holidays, you may consider filling out our police department’s Housewatch form, available on our website, at the police department during normal business hours or by clicking here. Patrol officers will conduct periodic checks of your home’s perimeter while you are away to verify nothing unusual is occurring on or about your premises.
The Village Hall administrative offices will be closed Thursday, November 24 and Friday, November 25 for the Thanksgiving holiday. Although the offices are closed, police officers are on duty 24 hours a day, including holidays and weekends. The administrative offices resume business on Monday, November 28 at 8 am. If you need to contact the police department, please call 9-1-1 to always be connected to a South Barrington police officer.
The last day for yard waste collection is Monday, November 28. Yard waste stickers are $3.25 each and must be affixed to every landscape bag and bundle left at the curb for pick-up. Stickers are available for purchase at Village Hall and the Jewel locations on 1485 Palatine Road, Hoffman Estates and 150 Main Street, Barrington.
You can reach me by email at pmccombie@southbarrington.org or on our website. Anonymous comment boxes are also available in the lobbies of Village Hall and the Police Department. I read anonymous messages privately, so please do not hesitate to contact me.
Have an enjoyable weekend!
