Dear Residents,
At last night’s Village Board Meeting, the Bespoke Group and Rick Heidner, owner of the Arboretum, presented a very exciting concept that would add additional interest and business to the Arboretum. The Bespoke Group brought forth a proposal for the construction of 50 ultimate high-end luxury automotive suites that would sell up to $1.5 million. The location would be on the vacant land in between our newest expected arrival, Greggory Hearth and Tavern, and East of Charles Schwab. The developers highlighted that most car activities would occur on the building’s interior, so noise would not be an issue. There would also be some events to display the high-end cars to the public. Project Partners include TKM, Velocity, Contour, Heidner Properties, Arco Murray, and NASCAR. This presentation was only the first step in the process, and we look forward to hearing more about this concept. If approved, the project would take an estimated 14-18 months to complete. I will keep you informed on the progress of this proposal which will continue with a public meeting workshop with the Plan Commission if they decide to proceed.
Earlier today, Village Administrator Bob Palmer and I joined an online Teams meeting with ComEd Representatives, including our local representative, Joe Turnage, and a representative from Microsoft regarding an upcoming project in neighboring Hoffman Estates. Starting Monday, February 12, you may see a number of ComEd vehicles in the area east of Barrington Road, toward North Eagle Way. ComEd is placing a substation with underground cables for Microsoft; the cables will be located 20 feet below the surface. The work is expected to continue through the summer and be completed sometime this winter.
Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and it’s a great time to patronize our local restaurants and shops when thinking of that special someone – even if it is you! Many of the South Barrington restaurants and businesses are offering some “sweet” specials to help you celebrate. You can find more information on the Arboretum of South Barrington website or check out some of the specials listed in the newsletter below. Our South Barrington businesses are grateful for your continued support!
With the upcoming primary elections, our offices have received several inquiries regarding voter registration. To check the status of your voter registration or to register to vote, you can visit the State Board of Elections website. If you prefer to stop by the Village Hall, a staff person would be glad to assist you.
If you are a board member of one of the many South Barrington Homeowner Associations, we welcome you to consider using Rose Hall for your meeting needs. This room is free to use by our HOAs. Please contact Ashley Hrynko for availability by emailing her at ahrynko@southbarrington.org or by calling the Village Hall during normal business hours.
As always, I can be reached by email at pmccombie@southbarrington.org or online through our website here. I can also be reached through the anonymous comment boxes located in the Village Hall and Police Department lobbies. I read anonymous messages privately, so please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to discuss any matter.
I hope you have a nice weekend and if you are interested in football, enjoy the Super Bowl!
