Dear Residents,
On Tuesday, I had the opportunity along with a few other elected officials, as well as our BACOG executive director and staff member, to attend two seventh grade class sessions at Station Middle School. The topics discussed related to how government operates and how to effectively pursue an idea. Each student read a short essay they prepared and then challenged us to help them by giving direction on how their idea could progress to make a difference. The essays were thoughtful and gave us the opportunity to share ideas with them.
The Plan Commission meeting on Tuesday, December 19, includes a public hearing with information on a potential new subdivision on the corner of Freeman and Mundhank Rd. Please attend if you are interested. You may have noticed in past e-blasts, the meeting included a request for backyard chickens and a chicken coop. The petitioner did not publicly noticed this as is required by law; therefore, it is no longer on the agenda. We have heard the request will be back in January. Please click the link below on meetings to find out what is happening in town.
I would like to welcome a new business, which opened today in The Arboretum of South Barrington, Grant and Dunne Styling Bar, founded by South Barrington residents, Janice Pajerski and family. The Pajerski family has been a proud part of the South Barrington community for decades. Their salon is one way to bring the people of our Village together while adding a much-needed premium service to the area. To view what services they offer and to book appointment click Grant and Dunne Styling Bar.
The Solid Waste Agency of Cook County (SWANCC) would like to remind everyone to be aware that not all-wrapping paper is recyclable. One of the most common mistakes made at this time of year is tossing garbage bags full of wrapping paper into the recycle bin. While most of it is recyclable, placing it all in a plastic garbage bag removes it from being recycled. . Everything that goes into your recycle bin MUST BE LOOSE – NO BAGS.
This holiday season, we have been advised:
• No foil or sparkly paper in recycling
• No ribbons, string, or bows in recycling
• No bags – i.e. loose material only in recycling
• Flatten, don’t crumble the paper or boxes
f you are planning to be away for the holidays, please consider putting a hold on your mail as well as filling out the police department’s Vacation Housewatch form. The Housewatch form is available on our website by clicking here or in the police department lobby during weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Patrol officers will conduct periodic checks of your home’s perimeter while you are away.
Several South Barrington homeowner associations hold their meetings in-person in Rose Hall. If you are interested in reserving Rose Hall for an upcoming HOA meeting, please call the Village 847.381.7510. If you would like the Police Chief or I to attend your meeting to discuss village business and updates, please let me know so that it can be arranged. We are always happy to attend.
You can always reach me by email at pmccombie@southbarrington.org on our website. Anonymous comment boxes are also available in the lobbies of Village Hall and the Police Department. I read anonymous messages privately, so please do not hesitate to contact me.
Have a nice weekend!
