Dear Residents,
This past Wednesday, August 2, we had an informative presentation regarding the proposed development of a church for the property known as area “N” at the north end of the Woods of South Barrington. Thank you for participating in the meeting and sharing your comments and questions with the Plan Commission. The Public Hearing for this property is scheduled for Thursday, August 17, at 7:00 pm at the Village Hall.
I am happy to introduce South Barrington’s new part-time police officer, Edward Mohn. Officer Mohn comes to us with over 30 years in law enforcement after retiring from his position as Police Chief for Winthrop Harbor. We look forward to working with him as a member of our Police Department.
Pictured above: Mayor McCombie swearing in new part-time Officer Mohn. Present were Chief Roman and Deputy Chief Garrison.
Despite the significant rainfall we saw in July, we are still in a moderate drought with abnormally dry conditions. You may have noticed some leaves turning color and even dropping from trees due to stress caused by drought. Please continue to water your trees, soaking the ground 12-36” from the base, as they are still recovering from the lack of rain from previous months.
This Sunday’s Music in the Plaza features Brass from the Past. Brass from the Past is rated one of Chicago’s top cover bands for the hits of Motown, pop, jazz, R&B, soul, rock, and funk. They will be performing Sunday, August 6, from 1- 4 p.m. For information about the Sunday music series click The Arb.
The Arboretum Summer Concert Series continues next Wednesday, August 9, with 7th Heaven. 7th Heaven has reached #1 on the Midwest Billboard Charts three times and has had 7 major radio hits. Known for the famous “30 Songs in 30 Minutes” medley of songs from the 70’s and 80’s, 7th heaven has been an entertainment staple for 38 years. Come out to see their show at The Arb from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Read below for more information about this event and other upcoming concerts or click here.
You can always reach me by email at pmccombie@southbarrington.org on our website. Anonymous comment boxes are also available in the lobbies of Village Hall and the Police Department. I read anonymous messages privately, so please do not hesitate to contact me.
Enjoy the weekend!
Paula McCombie
Mayor
