Dear Residents,
I would like to wish everyone a wonderful Labor Day holiday. Labor Day was established in 1894 to honor America’s workers.
It is my hope you are able to take some time off and enjoy the company of friends and family.
In observance of Labor Day on Monday, September 1st, the Village Hall and Police Department administrative offices will be closed. Offices will reopen on Tuesday, September 2nd at 8 a.m.
In addition, due to the Labor Day Holiday, Groot will collect garbage and recycling material on Tuesday, September 2nd. Please do not place your carts out before 3 p.m. on Monday.
For police assistance during the Holiday, please call 9-1-1. Village Police Officers are on duty 24/7, 365 days a year.
Brush Pickup
Don’t forget the Village wide Brush Pickup Day is scheduled for Wednesday, September 3rd.
All branches and brushes must be placed curbside by 7:00 a.m. It may take several days to complete this project, given the volume of debris.
Barrington Countryside Fire Department Training Notice
The property owner of 1 West Penny Road has given the Barrington Countryside Fire Department permission to conduct training exercises on-site every Thursday afternoon starting August 28th through October 2nd.
These trainings will involve a variety of scenarios to enhance firefighter readiness.
Please note:
- No live fire training will take place.
- Theatrical smoke may be used to simulate fire conditions.
- A fire engine may be present, but emergency lights and sirens will not typically be used.
- This property is obscured from Penny Road due to foliage
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as our firefighters engage in these training exercises to better serve our community and save lives.
