Mayor’s Message August 22, 2025

Dear Residents,

Our community has been hit hard by storms in recent days. Crews have been working diligently on emergency trimming and tree removal to clear roadways and ensure safety. Your patience as we continue to work on the cleanup is much appreciated.

The Village is offering a residential Brush Pickup Day on Wednesday, September 3rd. All branches and brushes must be placed curbside by 7:00 a.m. It may take several days to complete this project, given the volume of debris. Please note Cuba Township will make only ONE sweep per street through the Village and also remember this collection does not include all yard waste, such as leaves and grass clippings. To find out more about what is accepted, please read below in my message. Yard waste stickers are not needed for this pickup.

Keep up with the latest news

The recent weather events are a good chance to remind you of the other ways the Village is communicating with you.

Environmental Resource Fair

As power bills continue to soar, Cook County Commissioner Kevin Morrison is offering a free event to help residents learn about ways to bring those costs down.

He is hosting an Environmental Resource Fair on Saturday, August 23rd, from 12 to 2 p.m., located at Rahlf’s Woods in Streamwood.

There will be family-friendly activities as well as information on electric vehicles, solar panels, monarchs, and pollinators, as well as tips on how to save money on energy bills and more. You can click Environmental Resource Fair if you wish to rsvp for this free community event.

Summer Concert and Costume Contest

All good things must come to end. The Arboretum Summer Concert Series wraps up on Wednesday, August 27th at 6:30 p.m. with Disco Circus, a high-energy performance blending disco hits with a brilliant stage show.

The audience members with the best Disco look will have a chance to win gift cards from Arb stores. Audience members will be randomly pulled from the crowd to show off their disco look.

If you would like to participate in the costume contest but don’t have anything to wear, the Spirit Halloween store is NOW OPEN at the Arboretum. The store is located at 100 West Higgins Road in the Fashion District across from Arhaus, Bldg. Q70. Hours are Monday-Saturday 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Sunday 11 a.m.- 6 p.m.

Thank you all for attending the amazing Summer Concert series.  The Village is proud to partner with Wickstrom Auto Group,  Rob Morrison Team at Coldwell Banker, Ricky Rockets Fuel Centers and Goldrush Gaming The support for these wonderful events is what allows the shows to go on each year and bring a little fun to our community.

Village Shred Day

The Village is hosting a Shred Day on Saturday, September 6th from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

If you are interested in helping with the event, we are looking for volunteers. Please contact Makayla at mterfehn@southbarrington.org. All volunteers must be able to lift 20 pounds.

As always, I am here to listen to your thoughts and concerns. Feel free to email me at pmccombie@southbarrington.org, or use the anonymous comment boxes located in the lobbies of Village Hall and the Police Department. I review these messages privately and value your input.

Have an enjoyable weekend!
