Dear Residents,
I want to share an item with you from the O’Hare Noise Compatibility Commission (ONCC) subcommittee for evaluating daytime aircraft noise. I received this chart here that identifies the responsible party for the functioning of the airport.
Dawg Park Grill is officially open in the Arboretum at the previous Noodles’ location. This is owners Mark and May Kobylinski’s 2nd restaurant; the original location is in Glenview. The restaurant is dog friendly and features a fun menu you can find here.

Dawg Park is open in the Arboretum of South Barrington
The Village posted the road weight limit signs at the subdivision entrances, as we do this time every year. The purpose is to temporarily limit vehicle weight to a maximum allowable load of 10 tons. When the weather gets cold, water that is trapped under the surface of the pavement freezes. When temperatures rise, the trapped water will begin to thaw which can cause the pavement to heave beneath vehicles with heavy loads. The weight restriction will remain in place until we have determined that all trapped water has been released, which could take up to 90 days.
The Village currently has a vacancy for the essential position of Village Clerk. As this is an elected position, I am seeking to appoint a resident (18 years or older) to serve for the remainder of the current term. This would be a great opportunity for a resident college student who has an interest in local government. In brief, the Village Clerk attends the regular monthly Board of Trustee meetings (and occasional special meetings) for the purpose of preparing the official minutes, serves as the local election authority during the municipal election process, and maintains custody of the Village seal. Robert Palmer acts as the Deputy Village Clerk and will be able to provide support and guidance to our new Village Clerk, as well as fill-in when the Clerk is unable to attend a meeting. If you have an interest in this position or any questions, please email me at pmccombie@southbarrington.org.
This week I met with representatives from Groot Industries, our waste management provider, to begin discussion of possible contract renewal. The Village recently received a recycling rebate of $3,939 which spurred a discussion about recycling issues. Groot representatives related to me the top 3 impediments to successful recycling:
#1 Do not put lithium-ion batteries in your recycle cart. Lithium batteries have caused dangerous fires in Groot’s recycle facility as well as the recycle trucks. Lithium batteries can be recycled in one of the SWANCC drop off sites. You can find more information here. (https://swancc.org/resources/332-frequently-asked-questions/711-where-can-i-recycle-batteries)
#2 Do not use plastic bags for your materials for recycling. The plastic bags get caught in the sorting machines which can cause a complete shut-down of the system.
#3 Do not recycle unclean materials. On average, 30-35% of all recycled items must be thrown away due to contamination.
You can always reach me by email at pmccombie@southbarrington.org or on our website. Anonymous comment boxes are also available in the lobbies of Village Hall and the Police Department. I read anonymous messages privately, so please do not hesitate to contact me.
Have a great weekend!
Paula McCombie
